Sometimes we need to have a little fun with projects at home, and what more fun than an exfoliating soap!
Way back in 2013, after I got engaged, I dabbled in the idea of making little soaps for all of my wedding guests. (Full disclosure I never ended up doing it because it would have been so much work making 100 soaps!)
I came across this super easy recipe for making an almond scented oatmeal exfoliator goats milk soap.
Using a goats milk soap base, sweet almond fragrance, oats, honey, and vitamin e (capsules), you can quickly whip up a delightfully smelling soap. You can find all of these ingredients at your local grocery store and Michaels!
I love this recipe because it uses an easy to use pre made soap base, and adds in several natural ingredients, which we of course love! If you're not quite ready to take on making soap from scratch (aka using lye), then this is a great stepping stone to get your soap making juices flowing. And you end up with a gentle exfoliating soap bar that smells super yummy.
The original recipe suggests using soap molds, and there are plenty of options out there to choose from. I was impatient so I got a bit creative. Using a baking sheet and some wax paper, I poured the soap onto the covered tray, let it set slightly (firm enough to handle but warm enough still it would stick together) and then I rolled it (think cinnamon roll rolling). After it firmed up a bit more, I sliced the log up into 1 inch thick slices, and then left them to set! You can also try using silicone molds, or just stick to traditional soap molds found in craft stores.
